Welkom op de online expositie A ROOM TO ACT
Ide André (1990) heeft een eigenwijze overgave voor het abstracte schilderij. Zijn schilderijen zien er behoorlijk ruig uit en dat komt doordat de inmiddels gespannen stof de sporen draagt van uiteenlopende handelingen tijdens het maakproces. Niet louter schildergerelateerde handelingen. Van het fysieke behandelen van de ongespannen stoffen door eenentwintig stoeiende scouts in het bos, als lanceerplatform voor vuurwerk tot het aan elkaar naaien met zijn moeder aan de keukentafel of in zijn atelier. Deze handelingen plaatsen daarmee de uiteindelijke schilderijen van André in een sociale context. De stofdelen die hebben rondgezworven worden uiteindelijk opgespannen tot schilderijen.
Tijdens de werkperiode ‘Fill the Room’ voor Derde Wal heeft hij een onbewerkte stoffen vloerdoek gemaakt uit verschillende aan elkaar gestikte stoffen. Dit vloerkleed is drager van sporen voortgekomen uit verschillende sociale activiteiten, die plaats hebben gevonden op allerlei verschillende locaties. Als podium, als zitplek tijdens lezing en picknick. Momenteel ligt het vloerdoek in het atelier van André waar het een heel praktische functie vervult. Als een spons zuigt het vloerdeel de sporen van schildergerelateerde handelingen en het sociale leven in zich op. Met het opspannen als schilderijen krijgen de doeken hun uiteindelijke vorm.

Ide André (1990) has a stubborn surrender for abstract painting. His paintings look quite rough, because the now stretched fabric bears the marks of various actions during the making process. Not just painting-related actions. From the physical treatment of the unstrained fabrics by twenty-one scouts frolicking in the woods, as a launching platform for fireworks, to sewing it together with his mother at the kitchen table or in his studio. These actions thus place André's final paintings in a social context. The pieces of fabric that have wandered around are eventually stretched into paintings.
During the work period 'Fill the Room' for Derde Wal, he made an unprocessed fabric floor cloth from various fabrics stitched together. This rug bears traces resulting from various social activities, which have taken place in all kinds of different locations. As a podium, as a seat during lectures and picnics. The floor cloth is currently in André's studio, where it fulfills a very practical function. Like a sponge, the floorboard absorbs the traces of painting-related activities and social life. The canvases get their final shape when they are stretched like paintings.
